Pembroke Resources aims to create long-term value through the discovery, acquisition, development and marketing of metallurgical coal assets.
We are committed to the wellbeing of our people, the environment and the communities in which we operate and aim to grow our organisation in a responsible way.
We seek to develop lasting relationships in the local communities where we work, to make a positive contribution to the lives of people within the communities and the broader society.
To achieve our goals the company will require workforce diversity in general skills, experience and ethnicity. We will aim to be inclusive and build pride and loyalty with our people.
We seek to develop lasting relationships in the local communities in which we operate and to make a positive contribution to the lives of people within the broader society. Olive Downs will provide opportunity for people to live locally and work at the mine and not be solely FIFO. The workforce will be a combination of FIFO, DIDO and local people.
About 1,000 jobs will be created in peak production and up to 500 generated in construction.
We recognise the traditional rights of Indigenous people to maintain their culture, identity, customs and traditions. We have signed an Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) with the Barada Barna Aboriginal Corporation, the traditional owners of the land on which the Olive Downs project will be developed. These agreements provide for a commercial benefits package for the entire life of the mine and include certain upfront and annual monetary payments into a trust for the Barada Barna native title holders as well as an employment program for members of the Barada Barna community at the mine.
We have also developed a cultural heritage management plan to manage impacts on aboriginal cultural heritage and to meet our duty of care obligations at the project site. We are pleased to adopt the Barada Barna People’s preferred arrangements for managing cultural heritage.
Pembroke Resources has considered guidelines, legislation and best practice in planning operations to minimise impact and provide a high standard of rehabilitation to achieve a safe, non-polluting, stable and sustainable landform that supports grazing and provides woodland vegetation areas.
The EIS has been prepared to fulfil the requirements of an EIS in accordance with the provisions of the SDPWO Act and the Commonwealth EPBC Act and was lodged for review and assessment on 18 May 2018.

Pembroke Resources aims to manage land responsibly throughout the lifecycle of the project through ongoing land rehabilitation, biodiversity management and being considerate of the needs of the local community.
Olive Downs has a well-defined closure plan, which supports a responsible exit. The plan includes the rehabilitation of land while the mine is operating and involves the development of natural, stable landforms and measures to ensure the return of local flora and fauna.
We are committed to ensuring that there is no degradation of natural habitats and biodiversity. We will provide environmental offset areas and adhere to and go beyond the requirements of relevant regulations while also being mindful of the cultural heritage of the region’s indigenous people.
The health and safety of our people and the communities in which we operate always takes precedence over all other objectives. Our approach to health and safety is to be proactive in identifying potential risks and implementing the necessary controls.
